About the Company

ActionAid International Somaliland is part of the larger ActionAid International network, which was established in 1972. ActionAid Somaliland specifically began its operations in 1992. Since then, the organization has focused on addressing social justice issues, promoting gender equality, and fighting poverty in the region.

Key Focus Areas:

1. Women’s Rights and Gender Equality:
   • Ending FGM: Educating communities about the harmful effects of female genital mutilation (FGM) and supporting advocacy efforts against it.
   • Women’s Economic Empowerment: Providing training and resources to help women build sustainable livelihoods, including leadership and business development skills.
2. Education:
   • Improving Access: Collaborating with local communities to build and renovate schools, supply educational materials, and train teachers. Emphasizing the importance of girls’ education.
   • Supporting IDPs: Offering educational support and resources in camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) to ensure children can continue their education.
3. Humanitarian Response:
   • Drought and Food Security: Addressing food insecurity through cash transfers, food support, and water and sanitation projects.
   • Emergency Relief: Providing immediate relief during crises, such as droughts and conflicts, including food, water, and shelter.
4. Community Development:
   • Building Resilience: Supporting sustainable agricultural practices, improving water management, and enhancing community resilience to climate change impacts.
